Antibodies are proteins produced by your immune system to detect and eliminate harmful infections like COVID-19. Everyone's antibody response is different. Some people generate high levels of antibodies, and some very little. All antibodies wane over time so the timing of taking this test since your last infection is important.
Test2Detect separately detects antibodies created in response to the COVID-19 vaccine and viral infection, in one single test.
The presence of IgG Spike Protein (SP) antibodies indicates your body generated an immune response (serological response) to the vaccine or infection.
The presence of IgG Nucleocapsid Protein (NP) antibodies confirms you were recently infected. This is the only tool that can confirm if you were infected without having noticeable symptoms. Knowing if you were previously infected is important for your health.
Who the test is for
Anyone wishing to know their status and manage the ongoing risks of COVID-19 infection and re-infection, including:
-
People wanting to know if they recently had COVID-19
-
People planning their next vaccination
-
People wanting to track their COVID-19 antibody levels
Healthcare Professional
Giving Healthcare professionals and their patients the following insights

Whether patients have antibodies in response to vaccination and if their antibody status has diminished over time.
Whether or not patients have been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and have developed antibodies against the virus.

Antibody testing can also be used to
identify patients who have failed to mount a detectable antibody response despite having been previously vaccinated or infected.
Greater insights for clinicians and individuals
COVID-19 is caused by the B coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, a spherical virus comprising four main proteins: nucleocapsid protein (NP), spike protein (SP), membrane protein (MP), and the envelope protein (EP).
Test2Detect has the ability to detect two biomarkers in a single test, SP and NP, with high sensitivity and specificity for greater insights and cheaper testing made available to clinicians and the public.
Natural infection triggers SP and NP antibodies. Vaccination triggers SP antibodies only. This test will be able to confirm whether your immunity is from vaccines or from recent infection.
Many people will have been infected with COVID without symptoms. For vaccinated people who had a COVID infection with no symptoms, this will confirm they have hybrid immunity.
This is a miniaturised, duplexed immunoassay for the semi-quantitative detection of IgG antibodies in human sera to COVID using a sciREADER CL2 colorimetric reader and pictorial for CL2 software. We combine Pictor Ltd PictArray SARS-CoV-2 antibody test and a Tasso Ltd blood collection device to collect and analyse samples. This test is the first of its kind in NZ.
Results show if IgG antibodies are present or absent to the Nucleocapsid Protein (NP) or Spike Protein (SP).
